Volunteer

The Friends Can Put You to Work in Many Ways.

We’ve got some big ideas, and we’ll need your help to get there.

  • July 30 is the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the FVRL library. We need volunteers at this event to help with the Ice Cream! Be there at 11AM at the Library
  • Friends will be at the Art Festival August 9. We could use some folks to stop by in the afternoon (Downtown) to help sell art, books, table for the Friends. And tear-down in the afternoon.
  • We have a saying in the Friends: Everybody is on the Fundraising Committee. If you want to help with fundraising, we’re recruiting leaders. Sign up and get on our email notification. We meet twice a month, via Zoom. To join email Jonna Hudson: j31hudson@yahoo.com
  • We have a goal to significantly increase our Friends membership. There are lots of ways you can help us grow. We are forming a membership committee and seeking a leader for the group.
  • Update: Anneli Franklin is stepping up to collect and sort books for the Book sale! That means we still need a place to store books, must be dry and secure. If you have an empty garage, a place in your facility, etc, Pleeeeze get in touch with us. Read the whole story here.
  • We’re seeking a volunteer to help post our upcoming events to all of the local calendars, and maintain a list of calendars and contact info.
  • A volunteer coordinator to help us stay organized as we grow.

Help with a book sale

We ‘re seeking a new location for book storage. Please let us know if you have a facility. Our book sale is one of the primary ways we raise money for our library. There are some simple ways that you can help that make a big difference.

  • Sorting
  • Hauling
  • Setting up
  • Tearing down

Every Hour Counts

We are embarking on an ambitious plan to build a new library. Demonstrating community involvement is key to winning the kinds of grants we will need to fund the building project.  Stay tuned for more opportunities, or come to our monthly meetings.  You can find out what kinds of support the Friends need and volunteer for activities at each meeting, or join a committee.
It’s important to our efforts to have records of our volunteer participation. Download and track your hours with this form.
